Sarria is a town in Lugo, located just thirty minutes by car from the city of Lugo and one hour from the city of Ourense, known primarily as the point of passage of the Camino de Santiago. Every year thousands of people start their pilgrimage to Sarria to Santiago, because there are exactly one hundred kilometers away that separate this town from the city of the Apostle, the minimum required to obtain "the Compostela". Sarria is located on the French Way, the pilgrimage route that traditionally attracts the greatest number of pilgrims. The movement of people from different cultures has left a strong imprint in the locality.
Sarria can be the starting point to get the Compostelana, or an ideal resting place in the middle of your journey. But it is also ideal for enjoying walks along the River Sarria, or getting lost in its historic center full of history and tradition, where you can also exchange experiences with thousands of pilgrims from different parts of the world.
